For Hanukkah: Ghiora Aharoni Presents Let There Be Light

Ghiora Aharoni Design Studio presents: Let There Be Light

Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, commemorates humankind’s triumph over religious suppression via a miraculous intervention in the 2nd Century B.C., evoked in the lighting of the menorah. This symbol of victory over oppression conveys a relevance unbound by time, and asks the viewer to contemplate our obligation to defend cultural freedom, and to engender light in a time of darkness.

At a moment on the international landscape when exclusionary and nationalist sentiments continue to proliferate, these two menorahs, created by the studio, invoke Hanukkah’s essence: spiritual renewal, the miraculous persistence of spiritual light in darkness and humanity’s power of perseverance when challenged by oppression.
