Legacy of Adina Bar-On in New Book by Gili Sitton
Gili Sitton’s project, an Online Artist’s book named “In Between Image and Content: Female Performance Art in Israel, the Work of Performance Artist Adina Bar-On” was recently published.
The book discusses the pioneering work of Israeli performance artist Adina Bar-On, examining how her work disputes “traditional” gender roles of women, alongside other international performance artists such as Bobby Baker and Annie Sprinkle.
Sitton is an art critic, curator and an art researcher. This is her first published book.
The book is written with “Non gender Hebrew”, created and implemented by graphic designer Michal Shomer, and is one of the first projects in Israel to feature this language for the benefit of all genders.
The Online book has won the support of the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Sports, 2019 and was produced digitally to allow worldwide accesses to Adina’s important work, at no cost.
The book includes theoretical textual research and full length art videos, photos and original sound. Click here to view/download the book
