Memorial concert for Benny Gal-Ed in Jerusalem
The late Benny Gal-Ed, Director of the Jerusalem Music Center and former Executive Director of AICF, was celebrated in a memorial concert in Jerusalem on January 28th. The concert was organized by Mr. Gal-Ed’s family, and AICF was honored to take part in supporting it.The concert was produced by Artlink, and additional partners were the Jerusalem Music Center, the Bat Sheva Dance Company and the Israel Camerata.
Musicians Guy Braunstein (Violin), Zvi Plesser (Cello) Gilad Karni (Viola), Shai Wosner (Piano), Guy Ben Zioni (Viola), his daugther, Roni Gal-Ed (Oboe), and the Trio Mondrian (Ohad Ben-Ari, Daniel Bard, Hila Karni), performed pieces by Klughart, Shostakovich, Brahms, and Israeli composer Oded Zehavi at the Jerusalem Music Center to honor Gal-Ed. The evening’s program featured the world premier of Zehavi’s piece, “Khavatzelet,” which he composed in memory of Gal-Ed.
Benny Gal-Ed provided moral and financial support to hundreds of Israeli artists, dancers and musicians both personally, and in his capacity as Director of the Jerusalem Music Center and Executive Director of the AICF.
