Beethoven Monument

In 2019, pianist Yoav Levanon – then just 14 years old – made his first Mainstage appearance at the Verbier Festival, having attended its Academy in 2018. Broadcast globally on medici.tv, his recital gained the largest online audience of any of the 2019 Festival’s events. As Le Temps wrote: “Yoav Levanon made quite an impression at the opening weekend of the Verbier Festival … This is an authentic musician, innately and naturally lyrical … The Israeli pianist intuitively traces the architecture of a work and the melodic curve of a phrase … His playing is full of supple elegance …”

Levanon’s 2020 recital, with works by four of the great Romantic composers for piano, culminates in a performance of Liszt’s notoriously challenging Sonata in B minor, his only work in the genre.
