Gauthier Dance presents a programme which shows contemporary dance at its most dynamic – full of power and energy and striking a distinctly personal note. The central theme: The choreographers are all natives of Israel who, today, collaborate with major companies all over the world. What’s more, all three productions marked an important step in their artistic careers.

Hofesh Shechter explores with "Uprising" the extremely physical, virile side of the dance. Seven men, barefoot and casually dressed in t-shirts and pants, full of uncertainty and latent to unchecked aggressiveness. The longing for community lies in the clinch with brutal dominance striving. The music sets the tone: whipping, electronically distorted rock sounds, composed by professional drummer Shechter himself. A strong statement and a new, own color, through which Hofesh Shechter has unmistakably enriched the dance.

Gai Behar and Sharon Eyal also delivered their international business card with "Killer Pig". For Gauthier Dance, Eyal-Behar have created a new version - set with six dancers, as at the premiere, and condenses to 30 radical minutes. We see enigmatic Amazons in perfectly synchronous formations and desperate outbursts, sarcastically pulverizing every cliche of female dance. In the fabric of "MEGA ISRAEL", the austere aesthetics and precise movements of "Killer Pig" form the ideal counterpart to Shechter's Uprising. We see enigmatic Amazons in perfectly synchronous formations and desperate outbursts, sarcastically pulverizing every cliche of female dance.

The third contribution is "Minus 16" by Ohad Naharin, who is considered to be the Grand Master of Dance from Israel with his Batsheva Dance Company. After "Kamuyot" the inventor of the Gaga method of the company entrusted again a piece. Only that instead of "a" piece rather THE piece should say ... Finally, Naharin created with "Minus 16" a real Signature Piece, which soon gained cult status soon after the premiere in 1999. Like in a kaleidoscope, it unites a wide variety of episodes, music and moods that Naharin rearranges and varies from the unleashed circle of the choir with powerful, oriental-inspired songs to the entranced pas de deux to Antonio Vivaldi's Stabat Mater. An extremely intense group experience for dancers and audiences that has lost none of its appeal to this day.
