About Yoella Barmatz

Yoella Barmatz, born in Jerusalem. Creates, paintings, videos, 3-D art and multimedia works. Inspired by everyday life, through her engagement in body language, martial arts, dance and yoga.

Graduated with honors (BFA) from the Fine Art Department of Bezalel Academy in 1992. Received various awards for the graduation exhibition, including the Samuel Bezalel Academy Award, the Art Department Award, the America Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship for young artists (for 2 years) and a one-year scholarship for the Video Department, Bezalel Academy, 1993. The video art which was at the center of her multimedia performance at the graduation exhibition was later screened at the Retina Film Festival in Hungary, 1993.

Between 1993 and 1995 she wrote the screenplays, produced and directed two films (one promotional, one documentary) for the Israel Shotokan Karate Do. Since 1994, she works as an art director and graphic designer for the high-tech and the multimedia industries. In recent years she creates three-dimensional artworks. She also designed the costumes for the movie “Farewell Terminator” (1984), which received the Mograbi award for its costumes, among other categories (1987).
