About Maya Tal

Maya Tal was born in Israel in 1993 and started playing the violin at the age of 6 under the guidance of Mrs. Vali Blutner. After attending High school of the arts she pursued her violin studies at the Tel Aviv “Buchman Mehta” Music Academy with her teacher Mrs. Lena Mazor and later on with prof. Hagai Shaham and Prof. Lilach Levanon. Maya also took part in the Divan Orchestra, in the “Young distinguished Musicians” program of the Jerusalem Music Center, Mishkenot Sha’ananim and the “Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra” Courses. Since Maya began her viola studies she had participated as a part of the Orchestral Academy in the Israel Philharmonic orchestra, had master classes with Tabea Zimermann, Nobuko Imai, Hartmut Rohde, Miguel De Silva, Roland Glassl, Gilad Karni and has also lead the Viola section of the Academy Orchestra. Maya collaborated in chamber music groups with higly respected international musicians such as Alexander Rudin, Zvika Plesser, Roi Shiolah and Franklin Cohen. Maya is now a student in the class of Prof. Tatjana Masurenko in the Musik Hochschule in Leipzig.

Maya was chosen to play at the Keshet Eilon opening Gala Concert (July 2017), has played Bartok Viola Concerto with Webern Kammerphilharmonie in Baden, Austria (August 2017), and will play at BBC proms with Divan Orchestra (October 2017).

Maya has won the 2nd prize of the Buchman Mehta Music Academy strings international competition and has received scholarships from the HFM Felix Mendelssohn friendship association and from Keren Ronen.
